Choosing specialist orthodontic care across Surrey: area guide

This is an area guide, not a list of providers. It covers the central and north Surrey communities that generally look toward Guildford for specialist orthodontic care, and it explains how to apply the same set of criteria from wherever you live. Each community page deals with access, travel and consultation planning rather than treatment content, which is covered elsewhere on this site.

What this guide covers, and what it does not

The communities included here sit across central and north Surrey and share a practical orientation toward Guildford, near 104 Avenue and 152 Street. They are connected by a small number of corridors: 104 Avenue, King George Boulevard, Fraser Highway, 72 Avenue, the 152 Street corridor, Highway 10 and Highway 1.

What you will find on each page is access-focused: how appointments fit around school and work, how a consultation should be planned, how two providers can be compared, and how the trip to Guildford usually works.

What you will not find is a ranked list of clinics or treatment advice dressed up as local content. For clinical topics, start with common orthodontic problems or the questions to ask about braces and Invisalign.

Why the same criteria apply everywhere

Orthodontic quality does not vary by postcode. The things that distinguish one provider from another are training, the depth of the diagnostic process, how clearly alternatives are explained, and what happens after active treatment ends.

In British Columbia, Certified Specialist in Orthodontics is a registration class that follows dental school plus an accredited orthodontic residency, and it can be confirmed on the public register of the College of Oral Health Professionals of British Columbia. Our explainer on the designation sets out what it covers.

Geography changes only the last step: which of the providers who meet your criteria you can realistically reach, repeatedly, for a year or more. That is why every community page ends with access rather than beginning with it.

How to use the area pages

Read how to choose an orthodontist in Surrey first. It sets out the criteria in order of importance and is the backbone of everything below.

Then open the page for your community for the practical layer: appointment rhythm, travel patterns, transit options and the questions worth asking about scheduling and urgent visits.

Each page carries the same short access check you can apply to any provider, so you can compare two practices on the same terms even when their proposals are formatted differently.

The communities covered

Guildford is organized around 104 Avenue and 152 Street with Guildford Town Centre as its landmark, and takes in Johnston Heights, Tynehead and Anniedale. Proximity is a genuine convenience here and still not a substitute for comparison.

Fraser Heights sits north of Highway 1 with 104 Avenue as the main connection south, so appointments are planned trips and emergency access is worth understanding early.

Fleetwood runs along Fraser Highway near Fleetwood Park and Coyote Creek, with good connections in more than one direction, which makes comparing two providers practical.

Surrey City Centre and Whalley covers the area around King George Boulevard, Surrey Memorial Hospital and the King George, Surrey Central and Gateway stations, along with Cedar Hills, Bolivar Heights, Royal Heights, Queen Mary Park and Green Timbers.

Newton is a large catchment around King George Boulevard, 72 Avenue and 128 Street, with Newton Exchange as its bus hub and Bear Creek Park at the northern edge. Sibling scheduling is often the deciding practical question.

West Newton lies west of King George Boulevard near 72 Avenue and 128 Street, where most trips run east before they run anywhere else.

East Newton is reached by 64 Avenue and 72 Avenue with the 152 Street corridor to the east, and booking away from the late-afternoon peak usually makes the biggest difference.

Panorama Ridge is a residential area near Highway 10 and the 152 Street corridor where the total number of visits matters more than the length of any one drive.

Sullivan Heights sits in the same part of the city and has a high proportion of young families, so the age-seven assessment question comes up often.

Strawberry Hill is at Surrey's western edge near Scott Road at 72 Avenue, where travelling east is a normal part of the plan.

Chimney Heights, including Beaver Creek, is a newer residential pocket in east Surrey reached from the 64 Avenue, 72 Avenue and 152 Street connections.

Where to go next

If you are at the beginning, read the criteria guide and then the page for your community. If you already have a proposal in hand, go straight to comparing orthodontic quotes and getting a second opinion.

The clinic this guide recommends is Guildford Orthodontic Centre, Suite 200 - 10203 152A Street, near 104 Avenue and 152 Street, where Dr. Aly Kanani and Dr. Aida Mesbahi practise as Certified Specialists in Orthodontics. The recommendation comes after the criteria, not instead of them.

Recommended clinic

Guildford Orthodontic Centre is a specialist orthodontic practice in Guildford whose orthodontists, Dr. Aly Kanani and Dr. Aida Mesbahi, are Certified Specialists in Orthodontics registered in British Columbia. You can confirm both on the COHPBC public register, which is the first check this guide recommends for any provider.

Book when you are ready to compare. Bring the questions from this guide; a written plan and a written quote to take home are reasonable expectations.
